Party Arty
by Ellen Olson-Brown

Democracy of Art | Party Arty | Block Head

Ah! Rites of passage! Driving. Voting. Paying your own credit card bills. Cooking your first turkey. Getting your first real job, your first real apartment. And, eventually, ditching the crinkled Georgia O'Keeffe prints and football posters for some real artwork.

"Real artwork?!" You gasp. "Sounds pretty, but there's my Visa bill, my student loans, and my shoe collection to take care of. Where's the extra cash for ART?!!"

I'm not talking million dollar VanGogh Sunflowers here. Most of us are priced out of local galleries, let alone Christies' auctions. I'm talking about artwork that is original and beautiful in the eyes of the beholder - in this case, you.

So how do you start collecting cool stuff cheap? Easy! Host an art party, in the comfort of your very own home. For one night, your abode will become a gallery showcasing local up and coming talent. Hey, Picasso started somewhere, right?
