Let There Be Light
by Scott Acord

Intro | Preparation | Electrical | Switch | Diagram

Have you got an avid reader on your Christmas list? Or maybe you're just looking for a cool new lamp for your bedside table? We've got you covered! Make this awesome book lamp from a copy of your favorite book. Rigged with a groovy push button switch, you just squeeze the book and it's on - squeeze it again and it's off. The Clapper has finally met its match…

What you'll need
    Hardback book. (Ours is - 9"h x 6"w x 2"d)
Electrical (power) cord with plug attached (at least 6' in length)
Push button switch (we used UPC #17903)
Light socket (this should be a 2-piece socket without an on/off switch)
Hollow threaded rod (approximately 6" - the light socket attaches to the rod and must extend from the center of the book to approximately 2-3" above the book.)
    Light bulb
    Lampshade
    Needle nose pliers
    Screwdriver
    X-acto knife and blades
    Pencil or pen
    Ruler
    Electrical tape
