Photo Grid Lock
by Scott Acord

Nailed | Nice Weave

Are your bookshelves and closets filled with long forgotten coffee table books? Well get to rippin! This cheap and unique piece of wall art is a great way to display those gorgeous pictures. Not counting the photo books it'll cost you less than $10. Of course re-gifting is out, unless it's in the form of a grid.

What You'll Need:
    Box of 1" finishing nails
120' of 28 gauge steel wire
    Photos from coffee table books
    Measuring tape
    Hammer
    Pin or needle
    Level
    Scissors or wire cutters
    Xacto knife
    Pencil
    Plywood or particleboard

How's it Hangin'?
The most convenient way to do this project is on a board. You can hang it as is or easily transfer the finished piece by recreating the grid of nails directly onto the wall.

  1. Measure the size of your wall space and decide how large you want to make your grid.
  2. Add two inches to the length and two to the width. Cut your particleboard or plywood to this size.
  3. From the edges, measure in one inch and mark lightly with a pencil to define a one inch border around the board.
  4. From the left corner of the border, measure in one inch and mark, measure down one inch and mark. Repeat for each corner of the frame. You'll end up with eight marks.
  5. Divide the space between the marks on each edge of the border into equal parts and mark.
  6. On each mark, hammer in a nail leaving ½" above the board.
