Most of your discount department stores have tons of choices for mid-century design inspired duvets and bedding for you to choose from.
If you don't find a duvet you like, make your own from two twin sheets.
Sew up the edges leaving one short side open.
Sew some Velcro onto the remaining side so you can insert or remove the duvet.
Add some pillows in cool colors and designs or maybe fur covered. If you have time, try making some ugly dolls. This modern is fun and fanciful.
Make a bed skirt from coordinating fabric, cut to size. Hot glue it to the inside of the bed frame. And yes, you only have to do the sides that show.
