Decide on the size of your table and sketch it out with a pencil
on the bottom side of the board. You can draw it on the top, but
the pencil turns out lots of grooves that you'll have to waste your time
and manicure sanding out.
Lay the board on a pair of sawhorses or old paint cans and cut
out your design with the jigsaw. Don't forget the safety goggles and
be mindful
not to run the saw into the sawhorses. Eyes are precious, you know.
Now for the legs. Measure in 4” from each of the table's
points (3) and position the top plates. Mark the screw holes
with a pencil.
Drill a ½” pilot hole for each screw careful not
to drill all the way through the board.
Put the top plates back in place and attach with screws.
Twist the legs into the top plate to connect.
Bright Idea: Unsure how to judge how far down a ½” is
when drilling? Measure up ½” from the tip of the drill
bit and mark with a piece of masking tape by wrapping it around the
bit a couple of times. Drill till you get to the tape. It’s an
easy way to gauge your depth of hole.
