Turn the table over and sand the top and sides in the direction
of the grain. Depending on how rough the wood is, you might need
several grades of sandpaper. Start with the rougher grades and work
your way
down to the finer ones.
Stains come in tons of colors now. This one's olive green. Follow
the directions on the can and apply with a foam brush. Lay down
one coat and let the grain come shining through or many coats for
a more
solid look.
Finish it off with 2 or 3 coats of spray lacquer to protect
the table from glass rings and all the other ills of use.
Bright Idea: Not into the boomerang? Cut
your table into any shape and size you like. Try clouds, ovals,
swooshes, whatever. Stain it. Paint it. Magic Marker it. Do what
works for you.
