Box Yourself In
If you've just moved into your new home, chances are you'll spend more time pawning off all those boxes than you did rounding them up! Put them to use and you'll be saving more than the planet.

What You'll Need:

Cardboard
Utility knife
Paint and brush
Twine or string
Tape
Curtain rod
Screws and screwdriver

  1. Using a utility knife, cut a variety of shapes from the boxes: circles, squares, rectangles, whatever you like.
  2. Paint the shapes. Use one color or an assortment and be sure to get both sides.
  3. While the paint's drying, hang the curtain rod above the window.
  4. Tie several pieces of twine or string to the curtain rod and trim to the desired length.
  5. Use clear packing tape to attach the cardboard shapes to the strings.
Bright Idea: Get creative with your curtain rod. Use a pipe, a broomstick, rebar or a bamboo pole.
