- Draw your desired shapes onto the Plexiglas with a wax pencil.
- Cut out each shape using a jigsaw. Without question, wear goggles
and work gloves, as the friction from the saw will cause
the Plexi to melt and hurl itself into your eyes and onto your skin.
Ouch.
- Use acetone to clean off the saw blade as necessary and remove any
spikes or rough edges from the cutouts.
- Drill holes at each end of the cutouts, not too close to the edge.
The high speed of a Dremel works great for this project,
but a drill will work, too, if you let it do the work. Don't push too
hard or you'll end up with a bunch of broken pieces. Again, recall
the melting plastic? Goggles and gloves are a must.
- Insert split rings into each hole and link the pieces together with
extra split rings until you reach the preferred length.
If you've never used a split ring before, it's simple. Just open it
up with needle nosed pliers, run it through the hole and close the
rings back up. You can just as easily use wire or string.
- Hang chained Plexi lengths by sliding the curtain rod through the
rings. If your rod is too thick, pick up some shower curtain
rings at the discount store. They always do the trick.

Bright Idea: |
- Acetone, a.k.a. fingernail polish remover, is available for cheap
at the hardware store. Or just use your sister's.
- Want all your shapes to look exactly the same? Make a template
out of cardboard and trace it onto the Plexiglas.
