Hit the concession stand
Buying food at the movies can set you back one week’s pay, but serving up tasty treats at your soiree doesn’t have to be an expensive endeavor. Standard movie fare (popcorn, candy, soda) is fine for your party, but you’ll also want to treat your friends to nicer versions of their snack bar favorites. Here’s an easy recipe that will sate ten people and won’t break your bank:
Oscar Night Nacho Dip
Layer the following in a large round shallow dish (the amount of ingredients
in each layer can vary depending on the size of the dish you are using):
1 can refried beans
1/2 cup sour cream mixed with 1 teaspoon lemon juice and 1 large or 2 medium
mashed avocados
1 1/2 cups sour cream mixed with one package taco seasoning
mix (available at any grocery store)
1 large can black olives, sliced,
combined with chopped tomatoes, onions, and scallions.
Add chili peppers
if you prefer a little spice
Grated Monterey Jack cheese
Serve with tortilla chips either arranged around the edges of the dish
or in a separate bowl. |
