The Mojito: A Nobel Pastime
One of Ernest Hemingway's favorites, this Cuban cocktail is as refreshing as it is beautiful. Sip, sigh and celebrate your soupcon of spring. Ah, what we must endure.
What you'll need:
1 1/2 ounces rum
3 Teaspoons sugar
1 Lime
Mint sprigs
Ice
Club soda
Tall glass
Pestle
Squeeze the juice from 1/2 of a lime into a tall glass.
Stir in sugar.
Throw in a large pinch of mint sprigs and mash it all together with a pestle or other improvised crushing device until the sugar is dissolved and the smell of mint overpowers your senses.
Fill the glass with ice, pour the rum and top with a splash of club soda.
Stir well and garnish with a wedge of lime, a sprig of mint and a satisfied smile.
