We’ve become zombies to a little box called television. It drains our energy and our wallets.

Write down all the channels that you watch on a daily basis. Don’t include channels that you love, but never watch. Rank your top five channels. Which one do you spend the most time watching? Do you subscribe to any premium channels just so you can watch a certain show and nothing else?

Take a good long look at your cable habits and compare it to your cable bill. Does it make sense to be paying that much? Try keeping only one premium channel. Find a friend who has the one channel you watch for a particular show and ask them to tape your episodes for you. By shaving the smallest amount from your monthly cable bill, you can save enough to cover a month’s worth of cable expenses ($5/mo = $60 saving/year).

Let’s face it: everyone has their weaknesses. What's yours? Shoes? DVDs? CDs?

If the majority of your debt is spent on a single type of "just gotta have it" item, you may have a shopping addiction. Do a little research in the area and consider getting help. It can ruin your life and the lives of those around you.
