How to Deal with your Spending Hangover

Think ahead
Add up the amount you spend on eating lunch out each week and consider using a portion of that amount to grocery shop and create lavish meals for yourself. If you take your lunch at least three times a week, you’ll start to notice how much money you’ve been throwing away on greasy take-out that you don’t even like.

Throwing away money
Are you throwing away your money? If you have a membership to a gym or other club that charges you a monthly fee and you’re not attending, then you are the answer is yes.

If your gym membership is $35/month and you can’t remember the last time you went, then you’re losing $420/year in the form of a silent credit card charge or checking account deduction. Find a more creative way to workout and shed your debt at the same time.

Spending holiday
Choose one day a week to have a spending holiday. For the entire 24 hour period, you cannot spend a dime. Don't choose a day when you routinely pay bills, fill up the car with gas, or buy groceries. If you can handle one day a week, try for a second and see how much your spending decreases when you refrain from the wonderful world of impulse buying.
