Quick and easy pick-me-ups
Hey, mom may have been right when she said, “Kumquat, breakfast is
the most important meal of the day.” Think, because that’s
what you’re there to do. You can’t expect your brain to process
and retain when your belly is screaming for attention. While we know that
college calls for frugality, spending a few bucks on a six pack of cereal
bars, or some fresh fruit is probably one of the best investments you can
make. You need a fresh start every morning.
Eating several small meals during the day will maintain your momentum.
Keep some dried cup o’ noodles, veggie cups, and other instant
soups around. Just add hot water and presto-chango you’ve got yourself
a tasty snack to tide you over. The best part is that your local grocer
carries these babies for about a dollar or two.
The midnight pizza run
Whether studying until three, or coming back late from a social gathering,
there’s no way to avoid this one. However, there are a few things
to keep in mind. First and foremost it’s just a snack, not a
five course meal that will leave you full to the brim until dawn, so
treat it as such. Some people insist on scraping the cheese off to
decrease their calorie intake. This is perfectly fine, but you may
find eating a piece or two with cheese is more satisfying. Don’t
deny yourself. It only leads to more snacking in an attempt to fill
a cheese-less void.
