What's In Your Fortune?
by Leigh Serling

Philosophy | Recipe | Variations

Variations on a theme
Satisfy your desires, and make your fortune cookies more unusual. Play with the flavor and tickle your taste buds.
  • Use more almond extract and less vanilla.
  • Substitute rum, mint, anise, cherry, lemon, banana, cherry or maple extract.
  • Try using 1 tsp. flavor of choice and 1/2 tsp. of vanilla.
  • Don't forget chocolate! Everyone's all time favorite. Add 3 tbsp. baking cocoa and an additional 1tsp. melted butter.
  • Make the basic mixture without any extract, divide it in half and add various extracts to make different flavors. Add food coloring to the batter so that you know which flavor is which.

Wack out
Be creative and have fun. Think of all of the people that you can surprise by personalizing your own fortune cookies.
  • Make them for party favors at a bridal shower or baby shower, filling them with theme related fortunes.
  • Fill your cookies with jokes, silly predictions, sexy suggestions, or even to propose to your significant other.
  • Someone's birthday? (28) reasons you love her.
