Marriage
Don't be a weasel when you pop the question.
by Emil Post

Ah, Romance | How Embarassing

Just We Two
Ideally, after the nuptials, your life choices as a couple will be made together, with no pressure from the outside. It makes no sense to start a life together under duress. Here's a thought: If he tries to steamroll the proposal-at a time when, in theory, your relationship is at its best, what kind of tactics do you think he'll employ later on?

Face it, the time and place for public sharing of one's love is the wedding.

What's A Girl To Do?
I wish there was something I could offer to all of the passive aggressive males out there which might encourage them to alter their behavior, but that seems futile. Either they see how unfair the public proposal is or they don't, or they don't care, or they don't dare ask privately for fear of the answer. Therefore, my female friends, the job is up to you. Rise up! SPEAK UP! Let the word go forth, from this day and time, that a new generation of women will not permit this act of aggression to continue. At every opportunity, whenever marriage is discussed, or whenever you witness the marital ambushing of a friend, simply let it be known to all those near you that, "IF ANYONE EVER ASKS ME TO MARRY THEM IN PUBLIC, THE ANSWER WILL BE NO."
