The Art of the Gift

With the season of giving upon us, it might be helpful to get a refresher course on the etiquette of gift giving. It is just as easy to give a good gift as a bad gift, and I am a firm believer that if you can't give a good one, don't give one at all. I find immense pleasure in buying (or making) presents for the people I care about. I love the thrill of tracking down "the perfect gift" and watching someone's genuine (as opposed to forced) exclamation of pleasure after they tear open the wrapping paper and realize that you know who they are. Many of us, however, seem to find the whole process on par with a root canal and put it off as long as possible. The following tips are designed to help you do it properly, even if you can't bring yourself to enjoy it.
