Okay. So let me tell you straight off: DO NOT use any utensil that you'll later want to use to make dinner for the in-laws. Dyes are chemicals. And you don't want to take an unexpected trip to the E.R.
What you'll need
A five gallon bucket or stainless steel sink to soak the fabric in.
Dyes stain. Don't use the bathtub!
Glass jars to mix the dye.
Bamboo skewers or stainless spoons to stir with.
Plastic squeeze bottles to apply the dye. One for each color.
Measuring cups and spoons.
Cotton or nylon string or Rubber bands. Get lots.
Rubber gloves to protect your manicure.
Old towels or newspaper to catch the drippings.
Old, ratty clothes.
Laundry soap. Synthrapol or Amway are recommended, but make sure whatever you use doesn't contain any sulfites, bleach, softeners or brighteners. That'll just wreck all your hard work.
A colander or sieve to work in.
The dyes of your choice and any additives they require.
A white cotton, rayon or silk slip.
Have a love in!
