Don't work in the kitchen. Food and chemicals make bad companions.
Make sure any drinking water is covered.
Work in a well ventilated area, faced away from any breeze. You want the dye on the fabric, not the inside of your body.
Read all the safety precautions provided by the manufacturer. AND FOLLOW THEM.
Preparation Second
Pre-wash your slips with the recommended detergent.
Don't bother to dry 'em. They need to be wet.
If you're doing more than one garment, you can store the others in plastic zip lock bags temporarily to keep them moist. Don't wait too long though or they'll get mildewy.
You can prep the dye stock ahead of time and store it for a couple months. Mix the required amount of dye powder with one tablespoon of water and stir into a lump free paste.
Add a half-cup of water (the temperature will depend on the product you choose) and make sure all the powder is dissolved.
Store in a sealed bottle or jar.
If you're using liquid dye, it's already "stock" so move it on up.
Dye Stock
A concentrated form of dye. Think frozen orange juice concentrate.
