Sew Rockin'
by Tana March

Collar | Sleeves | Front

Fluted Sleeves
  1. From the cuff to the elbow, make a cut on the outside of each sleeve, directly opposite of the existing seam.
  2. Measure the length of this cut, from elbow to cuff.
  3. Add one inch and write down the number.
  4. Lay two pieces of decorative fabric on top of each other and fold them in half, forming a rectangle.
  5. Along the folded edge, mark the distance equal to the number you just wrote down.
  6. From the bottom mark, measure in two inches and mark.
  7. Connect the dots to form a triangle and cut along the dotted line. You've got two triangles now.
  8. Pin the triangles into the slits in the sleeve and sew them in using a zig zag or serge stitch. Keep the seams on the outside for extra decoration.
  9. Hem the bottom of the fabric to match the existing hem in your t-shirt.
