Trouser Jeans
One of this seasons hot new looks is trouser jeans and a short fitted blazer. Trouser jeans are the latest in denim. A tailored waistband, slash pockets and a gently flared leg are what make this one of the most flattering and comfortable jean cuts. Much more slick than the belly baring waists we’ve all seen too much of.

  • If you’re curvy, buy a pair with a higher waistband that stops at a narrower part of your waist than a hip-hugger. If your hips are small or your waist is more straight than curvy, go for a lower waistband to create a slouchy feeling.
  • A slightly flared leg adds height and balances your hips. Too much of a flare shortens and widens your proportions so keep it gentle.

Fitted Blazers
The perfect mate for your new classy jean look is a fitted blazer. Every designer and retailer offers one this season, but check out vintage offerings as well. Look for jacket styles from the 40’s and the 80’s. They've been the most copied this fall. This layering piece will keep you warm, add personality and, best of all, enhance your figure.

  • The “look” is about a blazer that ends just above or below the widest part of your hips.
  • For you ladies with curves you’ll want a longer jacket to soften and lengthen the difference.
  • If you want to create a little more curve, go with a tighter waist and a shorter jacket to emphasize your hips.
  • Try a tweed fabric. This multi hued fabric works with a lot of combinations and won’t seem as boring as solid colors when the winter is half over.
