An Iron a Day Keeps the Dry Cleaner Away
By Byron C. James
Intro | Get Pressing | Half Way Home | Bright Ideas

What you'll need:

    Iron filled with water
    Ironing board
    Spray starch

Let’s get pressing

1. Make sure your iron is on the cotton setting and filled with water. A majority of the shirts you will iron will be cotton or a knot material, so the cotton setting will give you the correct steam and heat. To give your shirt a professional and crisp look use a heavy duty spray starch.

2. Place the collar of the shirt face down on the ironing board. Lightly spray the collar with starch. Gently place the iron on the collar, working from the ends to the center to reduce puckering. Now turn the shirt over and repeat the action.

3. Place the left sleeve of the shirt on the ironing board. Smooth it out with your hand to remove excess wrinkles. Lightly dust the sleeve with starch. Iron from the cuff to the top of the sleeve. A natural crease will appear on your sleeve. This will give your shirt a classy and professional look if you take your suit jacket off or if you are going without one. Iron both sleeves until they are crisp and smooth.
