An Iron a Day Keeps the Dry Cleaner Away
By Byron C. James

Half way home

4. Place the left panel of the shirt along the ironing board. Make sure the seams are even and smooth. Spray the body of the shirt with starch. Iron the shirt from bottom to collar. Once you have finished the left panel and it is smooth and crisp, repeat the action on the right panel.

5. Now open both panels and lay the inside of the shirt on the ironing board with the collar on the narrow end. The board's natural shape will help the panels and sleeves of the shirt to drape nicely over the sides of the ironing surface. Give the back of the shirt a light spritzing of starch. Iron from bottom to collar. Make sure you hit the shoulders of the shirt; wrinkles like to hide in this area.

6. Voila, you have correctly ironed your dress shirt, according to my grandmother. Now you have a professional look and some extra money for beer.
