Fitting the Bill
By Stephanie Mantello
Ultra Formal | Cocktail | Corporate | Costume | Etc. | It's How You Wear Them

Corporate wear
At company events, conventions, and social business gatherings, an invitation will often request business attire. This is a courtesy to those traveling long distances as well as to the majority of employees who can simply wear their work clothes to the event. A suit or coordinated slacks, blouse, and jacket are always in good taste. Conference rooms are normally kept at a low temperature to keep attendees alert, so layers are an especially good idea.

For business casual, which is less formal than business attire, keep in mind that it is still work! Forget about shorts, sweats, jeans, and t-shirts. Business casual should be comfortable and conservative like khakis and polo shirts or knee length skirts and coordinating tops.

Bright Idea: When traveling for business, pick a color and create a wardrobe around it. For example, pick a pair of comfortable yet versatile black shoes and then pack a black pant suit, black skirt, or dress, and a coordinating black jacket. Accessorize to change your look from daytime business to evening out.
