Hurry Up and Slow Down

Attention spans are getting shorter and shorter. No longer are we willing to stop and smell the roses. We want immediate aroma so we can say we smelled it and move on to the next thing. It's as if we're afraid we're going to miss something, but what? Certain things in life need more than a quick whiff.

In the early 80s MTV emerged with its never-ending stream of music videos with quick edits that quickly defined pop culture. With 500 channels only a click away the urgency to capture the audience within the first five seconds became the goal of everything and everyone. No longer are we willing to wait. We want everything now.

With each tick-tock of the clock another second passes, and possibly time wasted. But so what? Sometimes in wasting time we have the best time.
