World AIDS Day
By Johnny Ortez
Intro | Not Fashion | Campaign 2004 | What To Do | How Far We've Come

Not Just Fashion
The red ribbon is the international symbol of AIDS awareness. It is a symbol of respect for those who have died from AIDS. The red ribbon expresses concern for those living with AIDS and serves as a reminder of the continuing struggle to find a cure for HIV/AIDS.

The ribbon was born 11 years ago of a small HIV charity, Visual AIDS in New York, and is now recognized worldwide. Great achievements begin with small actions. Wearing the red ribbon is your first step in the fight against AIDS. The best protection the world has against HIV/AIDS is the actions of individuals like you! Knowledge can change behavior, and changing behavior can stop the spread of HIV/AIDS. That will save lives.
