“Hmm, Carra…how about
an article about New Year’s resolutions?” I asked myself.
(Sidebar: Talking to oneself is not necessarily a ticket to the nearest
nuthouse. More about this later.)
“No, what this site really needs is a piece on découpage
gift wrap. That will speak to readers!”
I countered.
“Resolutions only come once a year, but…”
“Découpage gift wrap is such a great idea. It’s so
easy and…”
“Resolutions interest everyone!”
“Découpage will interest… enough! Can’t I just
make up my mind already?”
Easier said than done. I, for one, estimate that I spend a solid hour
every day trying to make up my mind on very important decisions: cute
black skirt vs. sensible wool pants, comfortable express bus vs. cheaper
subway, extra-cheese pizza vs. steamed veggies. If I had that extra hour
to myself, I just might have time to write articles on resolutions, découpage
gift wrap, and decision-making.
December 31 is National Make Up Your Mind Day. Learning how to make
decisions takes practice. Learning how to make good decisions is an art.
Let’s not waste any time.
