Planes, trains, and automobiles
Finding the love of your life (or at least of your week) on a mode of transportation
isn’t just for the movies. Last year I was seated next to a foreign cutie
on a long flight. We struck up a conversation and, badda bing, ended up having
a transcontinental romance. If that’s not enough to convince you of the
power of fuel, try this on for size: back in high school, my best friend was
being driven to school by another friend. She noticed a strapping gent walking
on the sidewalk and asked her friend to pull over. She introduced herself, they
exchanged numbers, and twelve years later they’re going on eight years
of marriage, and together, they have a beautiful little boy.
Everyone goes somewhere. (And if they don’t, you probably don’t
want to date them, anyway.) Planes, trains, and automobiles are rich
places to meet potential dates or, if you’re feeling particularly
optimistic, mates. Here’s the secret: keep your peepers open. Most
commuters are so focused on their destination that they don’t sit
back and enjoy the trip. Take in the scenery. If you find a certain prop
that tickles your fancy, smile. That someone just may smile back. And
sometimes, that’s all it takes to get the wheels a’ spinnin’.
Who needs fuel?
