Say Cheese
By Noelle Valdivia

Intro | Equipment | Technique | Your Part

Your part
Not all bad photos can be blamed on the photographer. Don't just sit there! Here's what you can do to make yourself look good:

  • Raise your chin. Lowering it will remove any trace of your neck.
  • Turn your head to the side to make your face look less round and accent your cheekbones.
  • If you are having your photo taken for a yearbook or some other publication, plan ahead and wear matte makeup. This will reduce that awkward T-zone shine.
  • Don't wear white; it'll wash you out. Bold, bright colors will look far more striking.
  • If you must pose for a full-length shot, cheat your body to one side and extend one leg out at bit.
  • Smile. Not a tight-lipped, forced smile, and not a crazy Cheshire grin. Just smile.
