Luck And Happiness
While we can't guarantee that our Faux Shui tips will bring you good luck and happiness, these practical ideas make good sense all on their own - mostly.
Harmonious Change Bowl
Place a circular glass bowl near your front door. Symbolically, circles represent harmony and glass improves communication. And it's a great place to keep your keys, sunglasses and all the other items you take with you every time you leave the house!
Get Lucky
The symbol of good fortune and success is a circle with an x through it. Make a bunch and display them everywhere you spend a lot of time to remind yourself that you're lucky. Your room, your office, your car. You can't have too much good luck or happiness.
Melting Pot
Place an item from each element (earth, metal, wood and water) in a red container and place it in your living room. (I know, I know, fire's an element, too, but the red container takes care of that). This harmonious combo is said to encourage good luck and a well balanced home. Chinese brides typically wear red because it's considered lucky. Of course that symbolizes a whole different kind of lucky in America!
Ring My Bell
Ringing a bell in your living room helps stir up the ch'i that may get stuck in the corners. You'll probably want to make sure no one is home or your roommates may think you're crazy.
Liven It Up
Put a live plant in your living room. Plants symbolize growth, life, and emotional well-being and add a nice decorative touch. Bamboo is a good choice. The Chinese consider it lucky because of it ability to grow quickly.
Talk To The Chime
Hang a wind chime between you and a noisy neighbor or a loud street. It will help break up the negative energy before it gets to your house. It's definitely more effective than yelling, "shut up." If you have particularly noisy neighbors you may need an army of wind chimes.
