Health and well being
by Scott Acord

Health | Feng Facts

Here at the 'tat, we understand Feng Shui is an art. It can take Chinese masters 30 years to perfect the practice! So rather than trying to decode this evolved and involved mystery in 1000 words or less, we've set out to give you the bare basics in a way that you can apply to your habitat in minutes. Introducing Faux Shui!

We've borrowed from the 10-Minute Feng Shui by Skye Alexander because her tips are tops.

The four basic areas of Faux Shui
    Love
    Good Luck and Happiness
    HEALTH AND WELL BEING
    Prosperity

Get Healthy :: Stay Healthy
Do your friends think you're off your rocker? Faux Shui can help you get balanced and stay balanced both mentally and physically. Some of you may need more help than we can supply you with, but for the rest of you here are some great ideas.

You are getting sleepy, sleepy...
This is mucho importante since you spend half of your life in bed. Your bedroom must be conducive to a good night's sleep! The following cures also make good Ch'i sense.

  • A good night's sleep may be the best beauty treatment available. So create a calm, uncluttered room for the best sleep possible. Limit your electronics when possible. If your TV and computer have to go in your bedroom, try to hide them in a closet or armoire.
  • If your bed is next to a window you might be overwhelmed with Ch'i coming in from your freshly washed windows, besides it might be drafty and who wants their back to a window.
  • Don't leave your bed on a wall with a toilet on the other side. You might just flush your energy down the drain or gain too much information about your roommates.
  • Position your bed so you can see the door. If this isn't possible then place a mirror so it reflects the door, amongst other things.
More on your bed
If you're having trouble sleeping try using blue or green sheets, they're calming. Red when you have lovin' on your mind. If you only have white or patterned sheets don't fret, dyeing them is cheap, quick and easy.

Lights, Camera, Action
Your bathroom should be well lit. Water creates too much yin energy, so balance it out with by adding some yang through good lighting. Plus you'll always come out looking like Roxy Hart instead of Rocky Horror!

Signs of the Times
  • Display the Chinese I Ching symbol "T'ai," in your apartment to subconsciously encourage peace and well-being in all areas of your life. Try putting a color form version on a window to promote peace in your neighborhood and beyond.
  • The "Glyph" symbolizes the sun. Display it anywhere to draw the energy from the sun to you.

These Faux Shui cures won't solve all your mental and physical problems, you've also got to eat smart and get some exercise.

love,
Mom
