Winterize Your Skin
By Ashlea Tate
Sun Block | Stiff Upper Lips | Elbow Room

Armed with fuzzy sweaters and cozy mittens, we are more than ready to brave wind chill factors and below Celsius degree weather this winter. But what about our skin? Don’t let your skincare regimen hibernate just because it’s winter! Give your skin a wakeup call by following these simple steps:

Sun Block: Don’t Leave Home Without It
Remember that philosophical question about the tree falling in the forest and whether or not there’s a sound? That applies here…sort of.

Even though the sun isn’t clearly visible on some days, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s not there. You could be overexposed and not even know it, increasing your chances of advanced aging effects, sunburn, and even skin cancer! Protect your lovely glow and use moisturizing products with an SPF of at least 15. Don’t forget to reapply when needed!

Face The Facts
Beware of facial products containing alcohol, menthol, or some type of acid compound! They absorb natural oils, causing your face to feel dry, stiff, and uncomfortable. When you add chilly weather to the equation, it definitely doesn’t add up. Put your best face forward and select products rich with vitamins, especially vitamins A (helps prevent sun damage), C (great for healing skin and wounds), D (helps prevent skin damage and signs of aging), and E (an antioxidant that has the same effects as vitamin C).
