Break the Monotony without Breaking the Bank
By Rachel Towle
Intro | Foreign Correspondent | (Ex) Changing Room

(Ex) Changing rooms
Often, simply rearranging your furniture can bring new energy to a room. A bold but liberating option is to have a yard/apartment sale where you can sell off items that no longer excite you and use the proceeds to buy new gear (and in the process, you might discover that you have much more stuff than you actually need). Additionally, certain web sites such as craigslist.org have exchange/barter sections. That leopard print lamp that no longer matches your décor might work for someone who wants to unload that orange IKEA footstool you’ve been coveting.

Take the long way home
Many of us live life in a vacuum, never looking up from our daily routine, completely unaware of the world around us. Take time to look out the train window. Look up and notice the architectural details on the buildings you rush by every day. Simply taking a different route to work each day can give you a fresh perspective. There’s a fascinating world right in front of you, as long as you keep your eyes open.
